#BringAlexHome

I actually know this girl, this is crazy.
To know that something like this could happen to a person you know is scary and heartbreaking.

IF YOU LIVE IN THE CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ALEX.

She needs to be brought home safely.

I think the most painful realisation comes when you find that you cannot speak your mother tongue as well as you do the language of the land where you grew up. My English is evidence of this. When something as simple as a colour, or the name of an animal in your mother tongue leaves you dumb. Yesterday I could not find the world for ‘turtle’ in Somali, only after my mother reminded me, did I recall knowing it.

We betray our mother tongues, for the languages of nations who will never fully accept us. We let the strangeness infest our mouths until we forget how to accommodate our original tongues.

'I bear witness to Allah that I have given it to you, so say “I accept it” so that the Hellfire does not touch you!'

All seven members of the Kelani family (pictured) were killed by an Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in Gaza City on July 22.

According to the United Nations, at least 68 Palestinian families in Gaza have had three or more members killed by the Israeli military in the same incident since Israel began its current assault on Gaza on July 7.
